Mysuru: The second batch of Dasara elephants which arrived in Mysuru on Wednesday September 7 were weighed here on Friday September 9.
Arjuna, weighing 5,885 kgs turned out to be the heaviest among the Jumbos. Jamboo Savari elephant Abhimanyu with 5000 kgs came next followed by Gopalaswamy with 5460; Dhananjaya, with 4890; Sugreeva with 4785; Bheema with 4345; Mahendra with 4450; Gopi with 4670; Srirama with 4475; Vijaya with 2760; Lakshmi with 3150; Sugriva with 4786; Cauvery with 3245 and Parthasarathy with 3445.
Deputy Conservators of Forests Dr. V. Karikalan said, “All the 14 Dasara elephants have been weighed. The male elephants weigh 4000-4600 kgs and the youngest male elephant Parthasarathy is 3445 kgs. The first batch of elephants is going through the daily rehearsals as well.”
The DCF said, “All the 14 elephants have been taking part in the Dasara-related exercises and beginning September 12, the Dasara rehearsal will gain momentum.
