Mysuru: District Election Officers and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. K. V. Rajendra said that the role of sector officers is important in the election process and they should understand their duties and responsibilities and work in a systematic manner.
He was speaking after inaugurating a training programme on duties and responsibilities to be performed by the flying squad and statistical surveillance team members of Nanjanagudu and Varuna constituencies at the Returning Officer’s office in Nanjanagudu on the duties and responsibilities to be performed by the members of the Flying Squad and Statistical Surveillance Team of Nanjangud constituency to strictly enforce the Model Code of Conduct in connection with the Assembly General Elections – 2023.
Sector officers should be in touch with booth level officers and if any issues are found, they should be resolved. If the name has been left out of the voters’ list and a new name has to be added to the voters’ list till April 11, the applications received without delay should be accepted and these works should be completed, he said.
The names should not be left out of the voters’ list and attention should be taken to the list of the deceased. Those who are above 80 years of age and are unable to come to the polling booth and cast their votes will be allowed to vote through 12D. Our will be taken up for redressal of complaints lodged through C-VIGIL in 100 minutes, he said and added that vulnerable and critical polling stations have been identified and steps to be taken for their proper maintenance should be taken.
The polling station should have minimum amenities like drinking water, toilets, electricity, ramp fans, etc. If there is a problem in the maintenance or use of EVMs and VVPATs, they will be replaced, he said.
