Mysuru: The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) members held a protest in front of Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha’s office on Tuesday April 12.
Farmer leaders said that the historic protest by the farmers in Delhi was recognised by the Central Government and a promise to bring in a new law was made to ensure a minimum price for farmers’ crops. But even after three months of the Government’s assurance, there are no signs of fulfilling of the promise. We have been fighting for a week under the leadership of the SKM to urge the Government for a change in the laws.”
They said, “The Central Government has announced that MSP scheme prices will be charged for the purchase of goods from farmers and the same is not followed within the State. The Central Government is betraying the farming community. On the other hand, the State Government is diverting the issues to ideas that are not related.”
Swaraj India volunteer Yogendra Yadav, Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha President Badagalapura Nagendra, Devanoor Mahadeva, Hiremath of Social Transformation Community and Hosur Kumar, District President of Farmers’ Association, Taluk President P. Marankaiah, Kallahalli Kumar and several others were also present.
