Mysuru: Former Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy said that he will not become the Chief Minister even if a Coalition Government is formed after the upcoming Assembly elections.
Speaking to mediapersons at Chamundi Hill, he said, “If JD (S) gets 30-40 seats this time, I will stay away from power. This is my decision. I will guide one of us by selecting someone else in that position,” he said.
“Give me an absolute majority this time. I will implement 5 projects through Pancharatna in 5 years. If the programme is not implemented, I will dissolve the party. I am saying this while standing in the premises of Goddess Chamundeshwari,” he said.
The Congress and the BJP have been criticising each other. They are not talking about the JD (S). The meaning of this should be closely observed. The Congress and the BJP are doing this to keep the JD (S) in good spirit. The Congress and the BJP are not confident of forming the Government independently, he noted.
“No one is criticising us that the JD (S) may need it. I understand all this,” Kumaraswamy said. Youth leader Nikhil Kumaraswamy has decided to tour the State, he informed.
In response to a question, Kumaraswamy said his name may be in the list of 126 candidates for the Assembly elections, which is now ready.
