Mysuru: A meeting of JD(S) leaders and workers from Varuna constituency was held in the wake of the announcement of former MLA L N Bharathi Shankar as the JD(S) candidate for varuna, a high-voltage constituency.
Jd(S) leaders and workers congratulated former MLA L.N. Bharathishankar on being elected as the new candidate from Varuna constituency at a function held in the town.
JD(S) candidate L.N. Bharathishankar congratulated the JD(S) high command for the decision to select him as the candidate for Varuna constituency.
Speaking on the occassion he said “The high command has not fielded me in Varuna constituency for any compromise. Before the delimitation of constituencies, there were three hoblis in the T Narasipura. At that time, I won from T. Narasipur constituency and became MLA. So I am familiar with varuna constituency. Bjp candidate Somanna id stranger to varuna constituency and siddaramaiah’s last choice is Varuna.
‘Other parties cannot ignore the JD(S) in Varuna. In the last election, our candidate had secured more than 28,000 votes. Voters of all communities are likely to support me in this election. So in this election, I am the ‘dark horse’, he said.
