Mysuru: Leaders of all parties, religions, various communities were appealed at a peace meeting to celebrate Hanuman Jayanti on December 7 in a peaceful manner.
Speaking at a peace meeting organised by the Police Department at Ambedkar Bhavan in the City, Hanuman Jayanti Samiti President V. N. Das gave information about the preparations for Hanuman Jayanti.
Advocate Yogananda Kumar, Legal Advisor to the Committee, said that the jayanti is being celebrated by the samiti and it is an election year and thus appealed to people not to mix any politics in the jayanti.
Taluk JD (S) President Devarahalli Somashekar, BJP Taluk President Nagannagowda, Corporator Syed Yunus, Former Member Majaz Ahmed and Congress Leader Raghu spoke on the occasion and said that there should not be any confusion while celebrating the festival.
Ningaraja Malladi, D. Kumar of the DPA said that the celebration of the festival should be held in a secular, non-partisan, and non-religious manner without allowing provocative speeches. He appealed to leaders of all religions to come forward and work towards controlling the youth, while maintaining peace and harmony.
MLA H. P. Manjunath, who presided over the meeting, said that as per the advice of Advocate Yogananda Kumar, all political parties should stay away and the committee should stand in front of them
and take out the Jayanti procession. He hoped that this is a solemn and fraternal birth anniversary and one should take care of social media.
