Mysuru: A manager of a marketing agency has been booked for alleged abetment of suicide following the death of a 42-year-old woman who worked as a product promoter at a shopping mall in West Mysuru.
The woman, identified as Nageshwari, allegedly accused her manager of repeated harassment and pressure at the workplace in a suicide note, according to reports.
Manager accused of repeatedly pressuring employee
Nageshwari reportedly alleged that the manager had repeatedly pressured and harassed her during her employment. She claimed that she was made to take responsibility for a mistake allegedly committed by another employee.
She also reportedly alleged that the manager threatened to replace her and pressured her to resign from her position.
According to the reported contents of the note, Nageshwari further claimed that she was denied weekly days off and leave, adding to the difficulties she allegedly faced at work.
Police register abetment case
Following the allegations, police have registered a case against the manager of the marketing agency under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for alleged abetment of suicide.
The allegations against the manager are yet to be established, and the police investigation is expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and the claims made in the note.
The case has also drawn attention to concerns over workplace pressure and the responsibility of employers and managers to ensure a safe and respectful working environment.
