Mysuru Orthopaedic Surgeon Sentenced To Jail In Corruption Case

An orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Puttaswamy, associated with the government-run KR Hospital, has been sentenced to four years in jail by a local court in Mysuru in a corruption case. III Additional District and Sessions Judge Bhagya awarded the jail term and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on Dr. Puttaswamy for demanding and accepting a bribe to perform surgery in 2017, as reported by Lokayukta SP VJ Sajeeth. Kaliyanda Muthamma serves as the Lokayukta Special Public Prosecutor in the case, according to the SP. The complaint against Dr. Puttaswamy was filed by Devaraju with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for demanding money to perform surgery on his relative. ACB sleuths subsequently filed a chargesheet against Dr. Puttaswamy in court.
