Mysuru: After successfully conducting first flower show at Mysuru palace premise last year, Mysore Palace Board decided to conduct ten day flower show this year from December 23 to January 1. The event will be inaugurated on December 23 by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Flowers including Roses, Marigold, Salvia, Sunflower, Daria (Dahlia) and Petunia, brought from across the country including Jammu & Kashmir and Kolkata will welcome the people this year at the annual flower show. The flower show will be open from 10 am to 9 pm. The entry fee for children will be Rs. 10 and it will be Rs. 20 for adults. While visitors can enter the flower show from 10 am to 6 pm from the Varaha Gate (near Gun House Circle), entry from 6 pm will be from Balarama Gate and Jayarama Gate (near Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple).
During the ten day flower show, a replica of Dasara elephant carrying the golden howdah will be created using Dutch roses. Apart from this, replicas of elephants, camels, horses and soldiers will also be created using clay and Plaster of Paris and decorated with flowers to resemble the Dasara procession. The statue of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar and ‘Anegaadi’, all decorated will flowers will also be the highlight.
To attract children, the enclosure for kids will have replicas of cartoon characters like Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and Spiderman made out of flowers again. On the occasion medicinal plants will be distributed to visiting dignitaries. Baby care centre, free Wi-Fi by BSNL, a health kiosk and an improvised version of Palace Virtual Tour would be launched during the event. Palace Board calendar will also be launched by the chief minister.
