In response to increasing leopard-human conflicts, the Karnataka Forest Department has proposed building the country’s largest leopard rescue and rehabilitation center in Mysuru. This state-of-the-art facility, with a Rs 70 crore investment, will accommodate up to 100 leopards, focusing on improving the survival rate of injured animals. The center will include advanced medical facilities, rescue vehicles, a quarantine area, and a forensic lab. Approval is expected in the upcoming state Cabinet meeting in February.
