Mysuru: Following the delay in land acquisition in Naganahalli, MP Pratap Simha has requested Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to release funds to decongest the city’s Railway Station. He made a request in this regard so that phase-I of the project can begin as soon as possible.
He claimed in a press release that the total estimate of the project is Rs. 789 Crore and the Railways have decided to complete the work in two phases. Phase I of the project includes the installation of four platform lines, four stabling lines, and maintenance, with an estimated cost of Rs. 496.2 Crore.
Simha informed the Railway Minister that the project had made no progress since its announcement. Railways have submitted a detailed project report to the Railway Board, stating that the Karnataka government’s Infrastructure Development Department has yet to respond to the request for bearing the cost of the acquisition of 165-acre. He also said that the proposed railway infrastructure project will remove the operational bottleneck.
