Mysuru: The villagers of Benkipura in Hunsuru Taluk have decided to boycott the forthcoming election in protest against authorities for not providing basic infrastructure to
village.

The villagers told on Monday May 30 that the village coming under Challa Halli Gram Panchayat have a population of 2000 with five GP members.

The citizens said that village has no bus facility since decades. Everyday the students walk 2.5 kilometres to catch the bus. Small children cannot commute during rainy seasons. Despite many requisitions to MP, MLA, Zilla, Taluk and Gram Panchayat members no bus facility has been provided.

The villagers also alleged that the village has no graveyard, proper roads, drinking water and drainage system. But during every election the representatives come to seek votes with lots of promises. Hence, the villagers have decided to teach a lesson to elected representatives this time around with the resolve to boycott election.
