Mysuru: MP Pratap Simha announced the launch of a new rice distribution scheme named “Bharat Brand,” aimed at assisting the economically disadvantaged sections of the country. Speaking to the press after inaugurating the central government’s distribution scheme near Cauvery Circle in Hebbal, on Wednesday, the MP highlighted the scheme’s significance in providing affordable rice to those in need.

“The central government has initiated the Bharat brand rice distribution scheme to offer rice to economically weaker sections at the affordable rate of Rs 29,” stated the MP as he distributed 10 kg bags of rice to the public.

Emphasizing measures to prevent misuse of the scheme, MP Pratap Simha explained, “Rice distribution involves obtaining a mobile number and issuing a token to ensure accountability and transparency. With direct reporting to the central office, the risk of misuse is minimized.”

He further elaborated, “We have received an initial stock of 300 bags of 10 kg rice, which will be replenished regularly. This scheme has been rolled out nationwide, and the public’s response has been encouraging. I urge everyone to take advantage of this opportunity.”

He said in addition to mobile vehicles, Bharat rice will be available for Rs 29 on various online shopping platforms, including Reliance Mart, Flipkart, and Blinkit. Interested buyers can register their mobile numbers to avail of the subsidized rice.

Each individual is eligible to receive 10 kg of rice, making it a valuable resource for households across urban and rural areas. Public feedback has been positive, with many expressing gratitude for the affordability and accessibility of rice through this scheme. The distribution of Bharat brand rice will continue across cities and towns, ensuring widespread availability and benefit to all eligible recipients,” he added.
