Mysuru: Former Chief Minister and Senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of postponing Taluk Panchayat (TP) and Zilla Panchayat (ZP) elections as it would lose them.

Talking about the ensuing State Legislative Council polls, the veteran leader said that tickets were given in view of social justice. “As a party, we want to focus on social justice and we are bound by that. All the communities have been given equal representation.”

Siddaramaiah hit out at the other political parties for sidelining social justice. He appealed to voters to cast their votes in favour of the party candidate Dr. D. Thimmaiah who is contesting from the Mysuru-Chamarajanagara Constituency.

He said, “In the last three years, BJP has not distributed houses to poor people. When I was the Chief Minister, I distributed 15 lakh houses. Despite not doing any work, BJP is requesting people to vote for development. In the recent rains, farmers incurred huge losses, but the government has not bothered to undertake survey work so far.”

The Congress Leader said, “Corruption has reached the highest level in the State. When we question, they say it is a political vendetta. This is one of the most corrupt governments I have ever seen.”

He added, “Petroleum prices and cooking oil prices have shot up. The common man is finding it tough to survive.”
