Mysuru: The City Police have arrested five persons in connection with the abduction case of a 12-year-old boy.

According to sources, one among the accused is a male nurse who the boy’s parents hired to care for the boy’s grandfather. Police Commissioner Chandragupta said the youths, who were between the ages of 20 and 25, were arrested in Kodagu District’s Virajpet hours after they released the boy in a deserted place.

He further informed that they rushed to the spot after learning that the boy had been kidnapped on Thursday at 7.15 pm in a car. We gathered information from eyewitnesses and also collected information from the family members,” he said.

“Saving the boy from the kidnappers was the police’s first priority. Thus, ‘bait’ was used to entice the kidnappers. We set up four teams to find the kidnappers following the child’s rescue,” he added.

According to a preliminary investigation, the youths had committed the crime as ransom to pay off their loans.
