Gundlupet: Kannada film actor Golden Star Ganesh is facing accusations of breaching forest department regulations by constructing an additional building on Survey No. 105 in Jakkahalli village, within the Bandipur Tiger Reserve, despite obtaining permission.
Bandipur, a revered wildlife sanctuary, has been a magnet for both national and international tourists, drawn by its diverse flora and fauna. However, the rampant expansion of Bandipur has transformed it into a cluster of homestay resorts, aimed at profit-making.
Environmentalists have raised objections to the construction of a residential property on a plot measuring five guntas within an acre and 24 guntas of land, purchased by actor Golden Star Ganesh, a move that violates norms set for eco-sensitive zones. Criticism has been directed towards forest department officials for their lack of response, even as commercial construction remains restricted within the eco-sensitive zone boundaries, as indicated by a central government notification.
