Mysuru: Senior Congress Leader and Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday April 30 he said that no political party should not use religion for selfish gains. “Anyone, immaterial of his caste, if found guilty, should be punished.”

Reacting to the notice issued to a meat stall in T Narasipura, he said, “Why do they target only Muslims? Law should be the same for all religions. The BJP is eyeing vote bank through polarisation. They were living in a world of hallucination.”

Reacting to the Hindi controversy, “Our Constitution has recognised 15 languages and Hindi is one of them. But, it has not been mentioned that it is the national language. Some BJP leaders are trying to please Home Minister Amit Shah by talking in favour of Hindi.”

Reacting to BJP leader C. T. Ravi’s comment, Siddaramaiah said, “I am not Sonia Gandhi’s slave and there is no slavery in democracy. Sonia has never said Hindi is our national language. Rahul Gandhi has also not said anything.”

The Congress Leader slammed Revenue Minister R. Ashoka for saying that Congress leaders have no right to talk about corruption. “After BJP came to power, corruption is rampant and Ashoka need not teach us anything.”

To another query, Siddaramaiah said that people from 20 constituencies have been inviting him to contest from there. “The State Assembly elections are still far away. I will take a decision at the right time.”
