Mysuru: Rahul Agarwal, the Mysuru Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of South Western Railway (SWR) chaired a meeting with Mysuru – Kodagu Member of Parliament Prathap Simha and other senior officials with regard to renovation and expansion of Mysuru Railway Station on Saturday June 18.

Addressing the mediapersons on the occasion, Simha said that a plan has been made to construct three additional platforms in Mysuru junction. The project is estimated to cost about Rs. 488 Crore. He said that if they demolish the staff quarters in the 65 acres of land surrounding the station, they would get the land required to execute the plan. He also said that several residential buildings at the quarters were in a dilapidated state. New quarters with adequate facilities for the residents would be given, he added.

Simha hoped to get Rs. 500 Crore aid for the project from Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the International Day of Yoga which will be held in Mysuru on Tuesday June 21.

With regard to PM Modi’s visit to Mysuru, Simha said that the Prime Minister would attend an interaction programme with the beneficiaries at Maharaja College Grounds here. He said the public may attend the programme without any registration and there is no entry fee to take part in the programme. However, people who wish to take part must arrive at the location an hour prior to the programme.
