Mysuru: All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) members staged a protest against Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) in front of the Mysuru Deputy Commissioner’s Office here on Friday July 1.
Students from several colleges in the city who had gathered near the DC’s office demanded an extension of the validity of the bus passes of students in the degree, professional and postgraduate courses until the end of the present academic year.
AIDSO District President Subhash said, “For the third and fourth-year degree students and postgraduate students, bus pass validity had been extended up to December 2021. Apart from this, the students’ bus passes are valid till the end of the academic year. However, this year they are only valid till June and the KSRTC has ordered the students to renew their passes. The bus pass validity for students in Bengaluru has been extended up to August by Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). This has caused inconvenience for the students in Mysuru. We urge the KSRTC to extend the validity for Mysuru students till the end of the academic period.”
