Mysuru: Basava Jayanti was celebrated in Nanjanagudu with great fanfare. The office bearers of the Basava Balaga Union started the procession by paying floral tributes to the portrait of Basavanna in the silver chariot at the Devirammanahalli gate of Nanjanagudu City.

A procession was held on major roads of the City including Rashtrapati Road, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Hullahalli Circle, Mysore Ooty Road. Veeragase, Karadi Majalu, Nandikola Kunita and various musical ensembles took part in the procession and filled the air with vigour.

Basava Jaya Ghosha, declarations of vows, and bhajan songs reverberated.

President of Anuraga Children’s Home Somasekhar Murthy said that since the code of conduct for elections is in force, we are celebrating Basava Jayanti in a simple manner.

20 organisations of Nanjanagudu are celebrating with the Basava Balaga Union. Everyone should imbibe the principles and ideals of the great humanist Basavanna, it was appealed and further added, people can develop only when they oppose superstition.
