Mysuru: The elections to Mysuru City Corporation’s (MCC) Mayor and Deputy Mayor’s posts will be held on Tuesday September 6. The Bharatiya Janat Party will be contesting the mayoral polls without any alliance.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Saturday September 3, BJP City Unit President T. S. Srivatsa said that BJP State In-Charge Nirmala Kumar Surana and other leaders have asked us to contest the polls independently. In view of the Assembly elections slated for 2023, we will be contesting independently.”

Srivatsa said, “We have 27 members in MCC whereas Congress has 26 members. Congress may tie up with Janata Dal (Secular) and it is not in our hands. We are not worried about what other parties are going to do.”

The BJP leader said, “There are eight aspirants for the mayor’s post and six aspirants for the deputy mayor’s post. Our party core committee has asked us to shortlist the names by September 5. The list will be sent to the party high command and the prospective names will be announced on Tuesday.”
