Mysuru: District In-Charge Minister S. T. Somashekhar said that the party’s strategy in the Mayor and Deputy Mayor’s election held on Tuesday September 6 worked well.
Speaking to mediapersons here after the election he said, “We have demonstrated unity under the leadership of Party State Unit President Nalin Kumar Kateel and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.”
“Although there were four or five aspirants, the strategy devised by the Leader Nirmal Kumar Surana to get victory for Nayaka Samaja leader Shivakumar has been successful. We all worked as a team. The party has empowered the Nayaka Samaja by fielding him for Mayor’s post. He said Rupa, who was elected as Deputy Mayor, is a PhD graduate. He said that the strategy of getting them a quilt has also been successful.
We have not aligned with any party. Shivakumar, who is a member for the third time, has good rapport with everyone. He also sought support from others. He said “We will not say no if people from other parties come to vote in favour of party candidate.”
“We have no role in the rejection of JD (S) candidate Reshma Bhanu’s nomination for the post of Deputy Mayor. We have not opposed anyone,'” he said.
Reacting to JD (S) Leaders request that of urging Deputy Mayor Roopa to resign to post and give chance to elect JD (S) Deputy Mayor he said, ‘It is not in our hands. It is at the party level. We have a Mayor-Deputy Mayor. Our intention is to keep them in power,” he responded.
