Mysuru: The Government in Karnataka is dead and Bharatiya Janata Party ministers are not able to protect anyone. In this background, the Chief Minister Basavaraj S. Bommai and Home Minister Araga Jnanendra should quit, opined senior Congress Leader and Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah here on Friday July 29.

He said, “The State Government is not taking strict measures to curb anti-social elements. It is the responsibility of the Chief Minister and Home Minister. Both of them don’t deserve to continue as ministers. As I have said before, both of them should go. There is no security for people. There is fear all over the State. Bommai is one of the weakest Chief Ministers the State has ever seen.”

Reacting to back-to-back murders in Mangaluru, Siddaramaiah said, “It is nothing but failure on the part of the Government for which Bommai and Jnanendra should be squarely blamed. Intelligence has failed totally. People are scared to come out of their homes.”

Siddaramaiah wanted to know from Bommai if Karnataka has become like Uttar Pradesh. “Do we need a bulldozer Government in Karnataka? As in Uttar Pradesh, the law and order situation in Karnataka has gone for a toss. Bommai always tries to compare his Government with his predecessors.”

He added, “Culprits in Mangaluru murders should be arrested immediately. People have already lost confidence in the State Government. A Member of Parliament from this region is making irresponsible statements.”
