Mysuru: After the controversy over Opposition Leader and Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited temple in Madikeri after consuming non-vegetarian lunch, the Congress Leaders are trying to control the damage by issuing statement that Siddaramaiah did not eat meat.

Speaking to mediapersons in Mysuru, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Spokesman M. Lakshman said that Siddaramaiah ate rice, roti and bamboo porridge. He did not eat non-vegetarian food. Laxman said that the photo that is going viral now is the photo of our Party Leader K. P. Chandrakala’s house where Siddaramaiah had lunch. He said there was also no meat. There too it was only vegetarian food. He came down heavily against MLA Appachu Ranjan for making such allegations.

Moreover, speaking to mediapersons in Madikeri on Sunday Former MLC Veena Acchaiah said that Siddaramaiah had no meat when he came to our house. Siddaramaiah ate rice, roti and grain sabji. Siddaramaiah did not know about going to the temple. But Siddaramaiah did not eat meat in our house, she said.

She said, “we prepared mutton, and country chicken curry for Siddaramaiah but he preferred vegetarian food. She said Coorg is famous for its hospitality. Despite that Siddaramaiah did not consume non-veg food. Opposition leaders are making false allegation just to target him, she said.

The photo in which Siddaramaiah is having non-vegetarian food in Madikeri and then visiting Basaveshwara Temple at Kodlipete went viral in social media alleging that Siddaramaiah desecrated feelings of Hindus by visiting the temple.

However, Siddaramaiah defended that he visited temple after consuming non-vegetarian food saying people eat non-veg today and visit temple tomorrow. “If I eat non-veg lunch and visit temple in evening what is wrong in it? Did God tell not to have non-veg food,” he questioned.
