Mysuru: Condemning the attack on senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah’s car in Madikeri on Thursday August 18, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Working President R. Dhruvanarayan demanded a judicial probe into it.
Speaking to mediapersons at Mysuru Press Club here, Dhruvanarayan said, “Siddaramaiah was in Madikeri to visit some of the rain-ravaged areas. Some of the BJP workers allegedly threw eggs at his car and used unparliamentary words against him. He said, “We have an Intelligence Department and the five attacks show the State Government’s failure. Despite having information, the police failed to arrest the culprits. This is nothing but a well-planned attack and hold the Karnataka Government responsible for this.”
He said, “Karnataka is a peace-loving State but in the recent past, there is a spike in incidents of communal violence. As Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah has a lot of responsibilities. The attack should be condemned in no uncertain terms. Owning up moral responsibility, Home Minister Araga Jnanendra should resign.
Nine Arrests
Meanwhile Police has arrested nine persons in connection with throwing eggs at Siddaramaiah’s car on Thursday. The JMFC court released them on bail.
