Mysuru: The Central Government has the powers to ban any organisation but we are curious to know the reasons behind the move to ban Popular Front of India (PFI), said Narasimharaja Constituency Congress MLA Tanveer Sait.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday September 28 Sait said that “I would like to ask the concerned authorities to probe the murder attempt on me on last year. We have laws to punish organisations that work against the interests of the country. PFI’s issue is nothing new. Bharatiya Janata Party has been raising the issue since 2009 for political gains. Ban is fine but we would like to know the reasons behind it. Some 176 PFI activists were arrested in no time. I would like to know if they have been interrogated. Is there a political agenda behind these arrests? I am going to ask the State Law Minister to order a probe into the murder attempt on me.”
Sait said, “There seems to be a hidden agenda behind the ban on PFI. India’s security is very important for us. I want the Centre to take action against other organisations which are working against the country.”
