Mysuru: Dasara events, DC appeals for sponsorship

Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner Dr. Gautham Bagadi has appealed people, private companies and pro+people organisations to sponsor various programmes of Dasara festival.

Addressing a meeting here on Saturday September 3 he said a meeting has already been held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on celebrating festival grandly. He said the celebration was simple since last two years owing to Covid pandemic and Government decided to celebrate festival as usual.

The meeting was attended by office-bearers of pro-people associations, industrialists, government-owned, private banks and other organisations. He said that all the activities are going as usual now a days as Covid is under control. During the 2nd wave of Covid, many industries, NGOs and private companies in the District have responded well by providing help in various ways and DC thanked them.

District Superintendent of Police R. Chetan said that Bollywood Night and Sandalwood Night programme will be conducted in Yuva Dussehra and Yuva Sambhrama programmes. He informed that Bollywood and Sandalwood musicians and actors will be invited as part of this programme.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. B. S. Manjunathaswamy said that in addition to identifying the sponsors this time during Dasara, they would get wide publicity in the events public. Names of the sponsors can also be placed on the awards given during the event. He said that this will help the name of the companies to become popular.

If any events related to Dasara are held, sponsors for such events will be recognised as official sponsors. 16 sub-committees have been formed in this regard. He said that programmes will be held every day under the supervision of the sub-committees.

In the meeting itself, the owner of the DRC cinema promised to give one screen for free in DRC cinema in connection with the film festival. Besides, many popular companies such as Coca-Cola, ISKCON, Muthoot Finance, and SBI have come forward to sponsor the event.
