Mysuru: An estimated five to seven lakh people witnessed Jamboo Savari the last leg of Nada Habba Mysuru Dasara in the City on Wednesday October 5.
It is a visual treat to behold elephant Abhimanyu, all caparisoned carrying the 750-kg Golden Howdah with ease on Raja Marga that forms five km long procession route from Mysuru Palace to Bannimantapa, the culmination point of the procession.
Earlier Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Mayor Shivakumar, Cooperation and Mysuru District In-Charge Minister S. T. Somashekar, Kannada and Culture Minister Sunil Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bagadi Gautham and Police Commissioner Dr. Chandragupta offered floral tributes to the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari in the Golden Howdah, during the auspicious Meena lagna.
Dasara this year assumes significance as it was a low key affair in the last two years due to Covid – 19 pandemic. After a gap of two years, the grandeur associated with the annual event has returned attracting people from across the globe.
Artists from other states were added attraction of Jamboo Savari. Dongri dance from Jammu and Kashmir, Mathuri dance from Telangana, Bhangra and Jindua dance from Punjab, Purlia Chav dance from West Bengal, Chakri and Gomar dance from Rajasthan, Tappetam dance from Tamil Nadu brought a national level of glamour to Dussehra.
Jaggalagi Mela of Belgaum District, Keelukudure of Mandya, Chikkaballapura and Kolar Districts, Halakki Suggi of Bengaluru, Gear dance of Chamarajanagara District, Nandi Kolu of Haveri District, Jade Kolata of Chitradurga District, tribal dance of Kodagu people, Bedara dress of Haveri District, and Urume music of Chitradurga District attracted the attention of the audience.
