Mysuru: A debt-ridden farmer committed suicide by hanging himself at Hindagudlu Village in the Taluk on Wednesday December 21.
The deceased has been identified as Chamundi Gowda (45), son of Kenchegowda of Hindagudlu Village in Hanagodu Hobli of the Taluk. He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
In the evening, he resorted to suicide by hanging himself from a tree in his field. The son was grazing cows near the farm and on suspicion when he looked near a tree found his father hanging.
The neighbours were immediately informed but by the time the villagers came and brought down, Chamundi Gowda was already dead.
The deceased’s brother Rajegowda has lodged a complaint with the Rural Police stating that Chamundi Gowda had taken a loan of Rs. 4.5 Lakh, including Rs. 3 Lakh from a private bank to build his house and Rs. 1.5 Lakh from Kaveri Grameena Bank in Hanagod for dairy farming.
