Mysuru: As part of the International Women’s Day celebration, K R Constituency BJP Women’s Morcha provided free health check-ups and health kits to the women working in the unorganised sector at Seth Mohandas Tulsidas Maternity Hospital here on Friday March 18.
Free health checkups were provided under the National Women’s Wellness Project and the State Government Women Nutrition project and the health kits were given under the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP).
BJP MLA S. A. Ramadass distributed the health kits to women on Friday. After inaugurating the programme, Ramadass said, “Chief Minister Basavaraj S. Bommai has announced that there were about 300 women’s wellness centres across the State, in this year’s budget. He has given a special project called ‘Nutrition Karnataka.’ This aims to reduce infant and mother mortality to zero. Our government has come up with a special plan to protect the health of women. Today, we are working to ensure that women who work in the unorganised sector are provided checkups with specialists and medicines under Prime Minister Jan Aushadhi project.”
The Prime Minister in a message said that, “the Jan Aushadi project will reach out to the poorest and underprivileged families. They will be given 10 sanitary napkins to protect women from any disease. We will continue to work in the future as well.”
Dr. Rajeshwari, Health Officer of Taluk and Dr. Sreenath of Seth Mohandas Tulsidas Maternity Hospital participated in the programme.
