Mysuru: City Crime Branch (CCB) Police have successfully arrested 10 chain-snatchers and recovered 25 gold chains worth Rs. 50 lakh, said Mysuru Commissioner of Police Dr. Chandragupta.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Friday September 30 he said that “A special squad had been formed to nab the chain-snatchers. The squad has arrested 10 thieves who were involved in robberies in Chamarajanagara, Mysuru City and District. In all, 25 cases have been solved with the arrests. Seven two-wheelers have also been seized. Theft cases in different stations have been solved.”
He said, “One of the two arrested thieves was involved in 27 theft cases while the other one was involved in four cases. These two had been jailed but continued to snatch chains after getting released. Six other thieves are from Chamarajanagara.”
He said the accused included an Advocate who was helping the accused to sell the stolen property and getting bail for the accused soon.
The victims who had lost their gold chains received their ornaments after producing proper documents. DCP M. S. Geetha Prasanna was present.
