Mysuru: Gujarat Handicrafts Utsav from July 2 to July 10

Mysuru: The Gujarat Government’s Index-C has been organising the Gujarat Handicrafts Utsav at JSS Mysore Urban Haat to enhance the spread of Gujarati arts and culture around Mysore for seven years in a row. This time it begins from Saturday July 2.

The festival will be inaugurated on Saturday at 4.00 pm by Dr. Bagadi Gautham, Deputy Commissioner. Executive Secretary of JSS Mahavidyapeetha Dr. C. G. Betasuramath will preside. T. H. M. Kumar, Commissioner of Handloom and Textile Department, Managing Director of Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Board D. Rupa Maudgil, Chief Executive Officer of Mysore Zilla Panchayat B. R. Poornima, Managing Director of Indext-C of Gujarat D. M. Shukla, NGEF Executive Director K. N. Aruni, N M Sivashankarappa, Joint Director of Mysore District Industrial Cente, Dinesh, Joint Director, Technical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeet, Dr. H. R. Mahadevaswamy, Managing Index–C –Tier 1 Dr. Shah, Special Officer of the Ministry of Handloom and Textile and Sugar and Sugarcane Development Girish L. P. And Dr. Snehal Makwana, Market Manager, Index-C will be present.

More than 90 artisans from different parts of Gujarat are participating in the utsav this time. More than 50 dancers from Gujarat will be showcasing the famous Garba dance in traditional wear in the evening on the first three days of the utsav.

Gujarat handicrafts and arts training for school children and women will be provided for free during the festival.

The Utsav will be on until July 10.
