Mysuru: The District Administration, Zilla Panchayat and the District Family Welfare Department jointly organised a jatha to mark World Suicide Prevention Day here on Wednesday September 14.

Mysuru District Mental Health Officer Dr. Manjunath said, “Like poverty, unemployment, corruption and casteism plague the world, suicide is also a major issue the society faces. This is a dangerous trend.”
He said, “A person who is mentally sick should get social support. A mentally sick person should be made to realise with support that suicide is no solution to all the problems. He or she should be brought to the mainstream through proper guidance. Timely counselling from a doctor is also important.”
Psychologist Sudharani P. Nayak, Social Worker Sushma Kumari, Rashmi DNT In-Charge G. S. Sumanth, M. Sandeep and Dr. Kantharaju were present.
