Mysuru: The Forest Department has succeeded in capturing the man-eating leopard that recently killed a boy and an elderly woman at Sosale Hobli in T. Narasipura Taluk of the District.
About 19 cages were placed in the areas where the victims were killed. More than 20 camera traps were also installed. The Department, which had been tracking the leopard’s hideout using a thermal drone camera, had installed a large cage brought from Tumakuru at the spot. Officials said the leopard was captured near Horalahalli in a cage on night of Wednesday January 25.
The leopard, which had killed the elderly woman at Kannayakanahalli on January 20, attacked and killed the boy near Horalahalli the next evening and ate half the body. Taking serious note of the incident, the Government had also asked the authorities to shoot the leopard if they saw it.
