Mysuru: Following the heavy rains that pounded the District on the night of Sunday September 4, newly developed layouts are spread over 50 acres on the outskirts have partially submerged, triggering worries among prospective buyers.
The layouts developed around K. Hemmanahalli on Mysuru – Gaddige Road are the worst affected with water stagnating around the houses under construction and sites, raising questions about the basic infrastructural facilities, mainly storm water drains, in those layouts. Nearly 50 acres of layout is developed by a relative of a MLA which are under water now.
The Chikka Kere on Mysuru – Gaddige road is filled to the brim after a gap of 35 years, resulting in the breach and overflow of water. The villagers alleged encrochment of lake area while developing the layouts is also the reason for this pathetic situation. Similarly Bommanahalli lake in Yelwal is also overflowing damaging the agriculture lands. About 20 feet deep land caved in creating artificial water falls at the spot. The lands at Kamaralli, Sigalli, Nagavala and Yelwala are also damaged due to heavy rains.
