Mysuru: The City Police Commissioner Ramesh Bhanot said that if one needs to let out the house, it is a must to collect the details of the tenants or else you the tenants too may have to face the heat if tenants are found doing anything illegal.

Following the incident of the bomb blast in Mangaluru recently, where the prime suspect Mohammed Sharique had stayed for a brief period at a rented house in Lokanayaka Nagara in Mysuru City preceding the incident, Police Commissioner has come out with dos and don’ts for the house owners.

Addressing media at his office premises, Commissioner said, “the house owners have to provide details related to their tenants, by filling a format available at respective police stations limits. The details of tenants irrespective of houses and apartments like- the number of family members, occupation, and native place among several others should be provided in the respective format within December.”

“If the house owners fail to furnish their details they should also be ready to partly own the responsibility if the tenants commit any serious offences. Hence the landlords should provide details related to their tenants without fail, added Commissioner. The hotels also should collect proper ID cards before giving the rooms on rent. Nowadays, it is easy to prepare fake Aadhaar cards, DL, PAN cards and other cards. The chances of believing the photocopies of such cards as genuine are more. To ascertain their validity, the Police Department is always ready to help in the case of requests, he informed.

The Department already has a system to check the antecedents of housemaids. The request will be considered if the landlords provide a requisition after paying a stipulated fee. The background check will be made by opening a special cell if the house owners provide the details of their tenants. The Police Commissioner also said, “Night inspection has been intensified at all the nine borders of the City. Both the Civil Police personnel and City Armed Reserve (CAR) are deployed for the purpose.”
