Mysuru: Rs 7L sanctioned for burial ground of Nayaka community

Mysuru: MLA H. P. Manjunath has given a sum of Rs. 7 lakh to the Nayaka Community for the purchase of burial ground at Dharmapura Village in the Taluk.

MLA Manjunath, accompanied by H. D. Kote ,Taluk MLA Anil Chikkamadu arrived at the Village on Thursday October 27 and handed over Rs. 7 lakh as promised. Giving the money to the head of the society, the MLA said that for the past 30 years, the Nayaka Samaja has not had a burial ground and the struggle had been going on since the time of Formar MLA S. Chikkamadu.

It was Chikkamadu Sahib’s dream to allot a graveyard land in the villayge. During a visit to Dharmapura Village five months ago, the society’s masters had a problem in cremating the bodies without land for burial grounds and had been wandering to the Taluk Office since the time of Chikkamadu. He had offered to give the land and requested that it would be Rs. 10 lakh. I have helped as I had promised to help in the name of my mother and i will continue to help this community,” he said.

Anil Chikkamadu said, “MLA Manjanna fulfilled the dream of our father Chikkamadu. My father’s soul has found peace today. He said he would contribute Rs. 1 lakh from his side.
