Mysuru: The Mysuru District Administration has opted to revoke the Rajyotsava award conferred upon a notorious criminal. Ashok, listed as a rowdy-sheeter at Lashkar Police Station in Mysuru, was granted the Rajyotsava Award by the Mysuru District Administration on November 1, purportedly for his affiliation as a Congress leader. This decision sparked public outrage and raised numerous concerns.
Assistant Director Sudarshan of the Kannada and Culture Department has confirmed the withdrawal of the Rajyotsava award. The inclusion of the name in the award was a last-minute decision, and obtaining background information from the police became impractical due to the time constraints. It has now been revealed that the awardee, Ashok, has a history as a rowdy-sheeter. Consequently, the award granted to him will be revoked,” he stated.
