Mysuru: ‘Intelligence, abstraction of data, an agency with which human interacts, empathy and values are the core behaviour of human beings said Prof Lee Schlenker, Professor of Business Analytics and Principal Consultant of the Business Analytic Institute (BAI), France. As part of 14th Annual Leadership Talk organized by SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) at its premise here on Wednesday, Lee Schlenker, delivering a talk on the topic “Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Good” said “Artificial Intelligence is the technology element and cannot possess human behaviour. It is the human who has to think and act in making AI contribute towards solutions for global problems; that’s ‘AI for good’.

He also mentioned that artificial Intelligence for social good covers only a small percentage of potential applications of the technology. The codes of conduct are negotiation points challenged by context. “Over time, the question before us is how we can nudge human behaviour to improve our community and the human alone can define the value and values” added Lee Schlenker. He also shared principles regarding fairness in business and societies are the extent of humanity on which we can trust technology adoption.

“Ethical problems are created by computer technology. What is the ethical footprint of technology? The digital transformation leads to a universal culture based on objective truth” said Schlenker. The speaker called upon the young managers to ponder the questions of technological advancement – How to measure good? Who decides the rules? How do you think you could incite appropriate behaviour? and how do you adopt new challenges? which will help us to make our society better.

Earlier, Dr S N Prasad, Deputy Director, SDMIMD, delivered the welcome address and introduced the speaker. Dr Neetu Ganapathy, faculty moderated the question and answer session and presented the vote of thanks.
