Mysuru: Former Chief Minister and Senior Congress Leader Siddaramaiah has demanded the resignation of Home Minister Araga Jnanendra.

Addressing a press conference in Mysuru on Friday April 8, Siddaramaiah said, “The Home Minister said that the young man, a 22-year-old, was murdered because he didn’t know Urdu. However, he later said the murder is due to road rage. It is a provocative statement. There is a Police Department and an Intelligence Department to investigate these matters. How can the Home Minister give a statement without any proof or information,” he questioned. He demanded that the Home Minister should resign from his post immediately.

Responding to the current restrictions being imposed on Muslim community, he said, “There is nothing that the Centre and the State Government can say that they have achieved. First Hijab row, then the Halal meat controversy, loudspeaker controversy and now ban on mango traders of Muslim community. Why is no one speaking about the price hike of petrol, diesel, LPG cylinders and essential commodities? The Government is bringing up the issue of religion to cover up its failure. Has no one eaten halal meat before, is it something new? There is no law and order in the State.”
