Bylukoppa (Periyapatna): All existing religions have essence and people should learn to respect it in all of them, opined Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama addressing a gathering at an event in Seraje monastery here on December 21.
Inaugurating the new Science Debate Centre, Dalai Lama said Tibetans would remain forever grateful to India for providing shelter and an opportunity for Tibetan refugees to live peacefully.
India’s strength is unity in diversity and the great nation continues to make progress and all other nations adore this inherent strength, said Dalai Lama, stressing on the importance of incorporating scientific temper in equal measure today’s culture.
Lauding the efforts of the Tibetan spiritual leader, Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji of Suttur Matt said, “Dalai lama has been fighting for the cause of Buddhism and Tibetan culture braving odds. By opening centres for education, prayer and orphans, Dalai Lama has played a vital role in creating awareness among masses. The great leader is instrumental in imbibing knowledge among masses, and because of which, Dalai lama is revered as an ‘Ambassdor of Peace’, said Suttur seer.
By practising and preaching Buddha’s ideals, Dalai Lama is playing a vital role in building peace within the society and duly received the Nobel prize for his untiring efforts, said Nirmalananda Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Samsthan, talking on the occasion. For every religion to prosper, the tenets and ideology built into it are vital, he added.
