Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation has achieved a rare feat of collecting Rs 6.75 towards outstanding water bills and taxes within just a week and what is surprising is the fact that the defaulters who have evaded these payments over the last four to five years have given in this time. The authorities in the Corporation hold the demonitisation move responsible for the same.
The Corporation will be accepting old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denomination notes till November 24 and they are expecting the collections to only go better.

Mayor B L Bhyrappa in a news conference on Friday said that this is history.

“We have never collecting this kind of outstanding amount in a week’s time. We have collected Rs three cr towards water bills and Rs 3.75 cr towards taxes. We expect the numbers to shoot up drastically in days to come,” he said adding that the old currency notes will be accepted at the MCC til 6 om on November 24.
