Mysuru: Over 25 students were injured in a stampede at a government hostel in the city that was caused by a fire scare.
According to the Paduvarahalli police, on Saturday night, a fire broke out at the post metric girls’ hostel in Paduvarahalli, located on the city’s outskirts. A short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire to break out at the ground floor following which the students rushed outside in fear.
Around 25 students, who fell while running out of the hostel, sustained injuries due to the stampede. Five of the students are unconscious. All of the injured have been admitted to a private hospital in the city. The doctors treating them have informed that they are out of danger.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
