Mysuru: In a bizarre incident, a retired cop, in a bid to get free accommodation and food, turned into a thief. The plan of this former cop is to purposely get caught in act of theft so that he could be lodged in prisons!
Prakash (64), a resident of Raghavendra Nagar here had opted for voluntary retirement and spent all his money in leading a lavish life. After his wife’s death, Prakash is said to have resorted to liquor consumption, gambling and women.

Soon detected as HIV+ve, Prakash eventually lost all his money and was rendered on street. With no clue about future, he planned to turn into a thief so that he could get free shelter and food in jails.

Recently, he visited KR Hospital and introduced himself as a police informer to a person named Nanja Shetty and borrowed the latter’s phone on the pretext of making a phone call. Trusting him, Shetty is said to have given the phone. The moment he got the phone, Prakash tried to escape knowing fully well that he would be caught. As per his plan, the locals nabbed him and handed him over to the police.

Prakash is now entitled to free accommodation and food as desired at Devaraj police station.
