Mysuru: The Dakshina Kannada pre-university boys and girls’ team defended their title by defeating Udupi and Bengaluru North in their respective categories in the state level volleyball tournament organised by St. Philomena’s College in association with the Department of Pre-university Education at the college ground here on October 28.
In the boys’ finals, Dakshina Kannada boys proved too good for Udupi as they registered a straight game 25-13 and 25-6 victory. For Dakshina Kannada, Sourav D Kulal came out with good setting skills while Pavan Kumar came out with good attacking skills. Earlier in the semi-finals Dakshina Kannada defeated Bengaluru South by 2-0 ( 25-16, 27-25) while Udupi registered a thrilling win over host Mysuru by 2-1 (16-25, 25-16, 15-12).
In the girls section, Dakshina Kannada registered a straight game 25-21, 25-11 victory over Bengaluru North. For Dakshina Kannada, Salithya came out with good attacking skills while Spoorthi displayed good setting skills. For Bengaluru North, Roshini and K Padma played well. Earlier in the semis, Dakshina Kannada registered 25-14, 26-24 while Bengaluru North beat Koppala by 25-14, 25-22. It may be recalled that last year too, Dakshina Kannada had won both boys and girls’ title.

Boys–Dakshina Kannada beat Udupi by 25-13, 25-6.
Girls: Dakshina Kannada beat Bengaluru North 25-21, 25-11.
