Rally to be held in support of farmers in state

Mysuru: The educational institutions, pontiffs of various mutts, legal practitioners, renowned literatures, film personalities, various political party workers along with general public will coming on streets in support of farmers, in a rally, here on Wednesday.
farmerThe rally will begin from Basaveshwara Circle to Freedom Fighters Park in city. People from various walks of life, other than farming community, will come with bullock carts, and bunches of sugarcane to show their support to farming community. The rally will commence at 10am.

Pontiffs of Sri Adichunchanagiri Mutt, Suttur Mutt, Baby Mutt, Datta Peetham at Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Ashram will be taking part in the rally. “Renowned literatures like S L Bhyrappa, C P Krishna Kumar (CPK), Latha Rajashekar and film personalities including M S Aravind, Bullet Prakash, Rangayana Raghu and others are expected to participate as well”, said Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha at a press meet in Jaladarshini on Tuesday.

Following the rally, a 20 minutes stage programme will be held at the Freedom Fighters Park. The dignitaries will discuss on various issues and also suggest their views on resolving the farming community problems, he added.

“In recent days, the number of farmers committing suicide has been increasing drastically. The time is high to understand the root cause for the issue and every individuals hold responsibility in resolving farmers issue”, said the MP and added that the rally aims to motivate farmers and bring them out of the stress.

Mysuru Bar Association president B R Chandra Mouli said, “No condolence or compensation can solve farmers’ issues. There is a need to debate on issues. Many markets in the state have no basic facilities for farmers. While manufacturers of various goods have the right to decide prices for products, farmers are deprived of this right and thus government must provide basic facilities and liberty for farmers to fix prices for their produces”.

Further, M Chandrashekar, Kannada Sahitya Parishath president said that even the writers and litterateurs have the power to motivate and change the mind set of farming community and thus litterateurs and renowned writers will be taking part.

Public have been called out to take part in the rally to support the cause of the farmers in the state.
