Mysuru: If the party wants me to contest the by-election in Nanjangud, I am ready for it, said former MLC and state SC/ST Congress unit president Manjunath.

Addressing mediapersons Manjunath said, “During 2012 assembly election, though I was the aspirant, the party high command keeping seniority in consideration gave ticket to Srinivas Prasad. After Srinivas Prasad quit Congress and resigned as an MLA, I am the senior most in the constituency. Hope the party high command will give me the ticket to contest the election. In Congress, no leader is greater than the party”.

Manjunath is a senior Congress leader in the constituency and has good support in Nanjangud constituency. People can wait and watch whether the Congress high command gives the ticket to the senior congress leader or to PWD Minister HC Mahadevappa’s son Sunil Bose who is very close to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Sunil Bose is seen regularly in Nanjangud constituency these days.
