Mysuru: Police have arrested three persons in connection with the alleged murder of a 48-year-old woman in Madahalli village of Mysuru district. Investigators said the woman was allegedly killed by her son following disputes and suspicions surrounding her personal relationship.
The deceased has been identified as Sudha, 48, while the main accused has been identified as Shivarudrappa S, aged 30. Police said the incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and an investigation is underway to determine the full sequence of events.
Dispute reportedly escalated within family
According to preliminary police information, Shivarudrappa had allegedly objected to his mother’s association with another man and had repeatedly expressed opposition to the relationship.
Investigators stated that tensions within the family had reportedly continued for some time. Police sources said the accused recently saw his mother travelling with another individual, which allegedly further intensified the dispute.
Authorities believe the disagreement later escalated into a violent confrontation.
Police allege woman was attacked
Police said the accused allegedly assaulted Sudha on Sunday morning, after which family members reportedly arranged for her to receive medical treatment.
Investigators alleged that during the process, the accused intervened and later attacked her again. Police stated that the woman succumbed to her injuries.
Officials are continuing to gather evidence and statements as part of the ongoing investigation.
Attempt to destroy evidence under probe
According to investigators, the accused later allegedly transported the body to a plantation area near Kaniyanahundi and attempted to destroy evidence before leaving the location.
Police said subsequent investigations led to the identification of additional persons allegedly involved in the incident.
Authorities have also named Akash, 24, and Abhi, 22, both relatives of the main accused, for allegedly assisting in the crime.
Police take three accused into custody
A police team led by Jayaprakash reportedly traced and cracked the case following an investigation.
All three accused have been taken into custody and are currently being questioned as police continue their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Officials stated that further investigation is underway and additional details may emerge after interrogation and forensic examination.
The incident once again highlights the need for addressing family conflicts and disputes through timely intervention and support mechanisms before situations escalate into violence.
