A severe stray dog problem in K.C. Layout is causing significant concern among residents and commuters. The pack of stray dogs, which frequently fights near a hotel on 6th Cross, has been aggressively chasing two-wheeler riders, leading to accidents and injuries.
The situation is so dire that pedestrians, particularly senior citizens and children, are afraid to walk along this stretch due to the risk of dog bites. Recently, the dogs were observed attacking a rider, who had to stop his scooter out of fear. He waited until the dogs dispersed before continuing his journey.
This problem is not new; a few months ago, a child was seriously injured by stray dogs in Gundurao Nagar. Despite numerous complaints to the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), there has been little action to address the issue. The MCC’s response has been limited to claims of neutering stray dogs to control their population, but with no visible reduction in the number of strays, the effectiveness of these measures is being questioned.
Residents are urging the authorities to take immediate and effective action to address the stray dog menace and ensure public safety. The need for a comprehensive plan to manage the stray dog population and prevent further incidents has become increasingly urgent.
