Theatre activist Bhagirathi Bai Kadam is the new director of Rangayana

Mysuru: After nearly six months Rangayana got the new director. Theatre activist Bhagirathi Bai Kadam has been appointed as the director of Rangayana, Mysuru.

After completing her pre-university education, Kadam went to Ninasam Theatre School in Heggodu. She studied in National School of Drama for three years and played a key role in popularising the “Tirugata” repertory of Ninasam. She also worked with Tara Arts, London, a group of Asian artistes for eight months.

After marrying Baharul Islam, noted theatre personality in Assam, she settled in Guwahati. Both of them later founded Seagull Theatre Academy in 1990. She has been conferred with various state and national awards. She also has translated many Kannada books.

H Janardhan who took charge as director of Rangayana in October 2013, completed his three year term on October 2016. Since then the post was vacant.
